Square POS Refresh
Required Hardware: Square Point of Sale and POS Application.
Notes: This refresh will temporarily disable your main Point of Sale (POS) system for roughly 1-5 minutes. It's important when performing a refresh you and/or your teams are aware of the refresh and alternate payment options are set in place to avoid further disruption to business.
Step 1:
Double tap the home button on the iPad
Step 2:
Swipe up on the SquarePOS application
Step 3:
Black Stand: Pull the security latch outward and then down (left of camera)
White Stand: Release the iPad's safety mechanism (headphone port)
Step 4:
Find the safety release button and push (this is in the center of the iPad directly behind the POS's screen)
Step 5:
Remove the iPad from the Square Stand
Step 6:
Go to Settings
Step 7:
Select General
Step 8:
Select Shut Down
Step 9:
Wait 30-45 seconds
Step 10:
Return the iPad back into the Point of Sale stand
Notes: To avoid damage, do not force the iPad back into the stand
Step 11:
Secure the iPad using the safety release (headphone port)
Step 12:
Relaunch the SquarePOS application
Step 13:
Check hardware functionality
If all technology is functioning, skip to step 19
Step 14:
In SquarePOS, Navigate to the bottom right corner and select More
Step 15:
Navigate to the Settings
Step 16:
Select Hardware
Step 17:
Make note of any hardware issues (Missing barcode scanner, etc. CASH TILLS will not show up in hardware)
Step 18:
Make corrections to non-functioning technology
Step 19:
Once all technology is functioning, you're all set! Happy Selling!
